Here are a few hints and tips to make your editing skills better. They are split into their respective catagories. I encourage you to e-mail me your hints and tips, so that you too may help someone out. You can e-mail me at wildkard@red2.org.
Making New Maps (General)
Take a look at the Westwood made maps. These guys are professionals. Notice how they place trees and different LAT tiles to make the environment look "real". (28/1, WildKard)
Don't make your maps too busy. (28/1, WildKard)
Plan ahead of time what you want your map to look like. (28/1, WildKard)
Making New Maps (Multi)
Sometimes smaller is better. (28/1, WildKard)
Making New Maps (Single)
 None so far.
INI Editing
Look at what Westwood and others have done. This will give you an idea for what you may want to do. (28/1, WildKard)
Keep your ideas original. A lot of MODs are doing the same exact thing like Chrono Tanks and things like that. If you see other MODs that use your unit idea, think of something new. People don't like the same old thing. (28/1, WildKard)
Read the instructions Westwood has put in them. Somethings can be outdated, but it's the best way to learn. (28/1, WildKard)
Making new Voxel Graphics
I learned this one from the great Proclone. Make a sketch of what you are gonna do before you do it. It doesn't have to be good, but it will help you get everything from the structure to the details right. (28/1, WildKard)
If your unit is based on something that you did not make up (i.e. real-life, movies), get or find pictures of it from many different angles. (28/1, WildKard)
Don't just use one program to make the voxel, use Will's Voxel Editor, XCC Utilities and a powerful, normal graphics utility (preferably Paint Shop Pro) to make the graphics. It makes it easier and your voxel look nicer. (28/1, WildKard)
Making new SHP Graphics
 None so far.
Making a MOD
Keep your ideas original. A lot of MODs are doing the same exact thing like Chrono Tanks and things like that. If you see other MODs that use your unit idea, think of something new. People don't like the same old thing. (28/1, WildKard)
Don't take on more than you handle. If your idea is too big, try to get a team to help you. (28/1, WildKard)
